The cave of Diros, is found 10 km from Gytheio and 5 km from the Pyrgos Dirou. Actually there are three caves, the Alepotrypa, Katafigi and Glyfada. This is a unique experience traveling barely a subterranean river length 1,600 m. The magic of the color, and the beautiful shapes, formed by the stalactites and stalagmites makes a unique spectacle. After the ongoing research at the cave of Diros to date, the total length reaches 6.500 meters and is still unknown the final length.

In the village Kastria of Achaia, 60km from Tripoli (tunnel at Artemision) and 9 Km from Kleitoria, lies the famous "Cave of the Lakes".

It is a rare creation of Nature. Apart from its labyrinth of corridors, its mysterious galleries and its strange stalactite formations, the "Cave of the Lakes" has something exclusively unique that does not exist in other well known caves. Inside the cave there is a string of cascading lakes forming three different levels that establish its uniqueness in the world.

The Cave of Kapsia is situated 1 kilometer from the village Kapsia, at the southwest edge of the plain of ancient Mantineia. It is part of a system of active and inactive sinks. In front of the entrance are three sinks. Inside the cave human bone material has been found, according to some researchers from people who drowned during floods in the cave. The cave was used by man during the Neolithic, Hellenistic period and the fourth to sixth century AD.

According to a lot of people, it is the oldest Monastery of Greece and one of the most impressive Christian Orthodox pilgrimages. It is 10kms out of the town of Kalavrita. It took its name (Spileo = cave) from the cave where the icon of Virgin Mary was found.

On the rock where Paliokastro was built, at the southwest end of Voidokilia Bay, one can clearly see a cave. It is the mythical cave of Nestor, son of Neleus. This is where the royal cattle were kept. According to myth, Hermes hid the 50 cattle stolen from Apollo in this very cave. There, Heinrich Schliemann located finds which dated back to Nestor’s times, proving the early existence of life in the area. The cave is full of stalactites.

In any case, it is worth one's while! Especially selective sightseers will enjoy this visit. Access to the cave is relatively easy, as the cave is located just at the foot of the castle's walls. You may climb up the sand-dune in the end of Voidokilia Beach and follow the ascending path. Up there, you will find Nestor’s cave. The view is extraordinary!
