Aigio is the capital of the province of Aegialeia. It is built amphitheatrically on the west coast of Corinthiakos bay, and it is a commercial and industrial centre.
The town is divided into the Upper and Lower Town. In the town, one will meet fine neoclassical buildings highlighting its majestic look.
From Psila Alonia, the centre square, one will enjoy the panoramic view of the blue waters of Corinthiakos bay and the opposite coastline of mainland Greece. It is 41km from Patras and has a population of approximately 20,000 inhabitants.
