The prefecture of Messinia is the southwestern extremity of the Peloponnese.
Its climate is exceptional all year long since it combines cool summer, sweet spring, soft autumn, and mild winter. Nature gave to Messinia breathtaking landscapes, sandy beaches, and wellprotected coves. Man discovered it and decorated it with temples and churches, forts and monasteries, picturesque villages and majestic stone buildings. Its inhabitants are mostly engaged in farming, they produce olives and oil, wine, figs, potatoes, Raisins, cotton, rice etc. They also produce livestock products, in particular, dairy products. The subsoil is mineral-rich, brown coal, manganese, and sulphur minerals. Messinia shares borders to the east with Laconia, to the north with and Arcadia, and to the south it has Messiniakos Bay and Ionian Sea coastlines.
